I am a political economist based in Berlin. I study how advanced capitalist states have responded to China's rise, and what the tariffs, investment screening and export controls of the geoeconomic turn mean for the firms caught between them.

My doctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies and the University of Cologne, supervised by Lucio Baccaro, asked why governments facing the same challenge chose such different responses. It draws on 47 elite interviews in Washington, Berlin, Brussels and Paris, and was passed magna cum laude in 2025.

I was a Provost-appointed Visiting Scholar at Columbia University and a Visiting Researcher at Freie Universität Berlin. Before my doctorate I was Lead Analyst for global basestocks at ExxonMobil, after working on sovereign and credit risk at Morgan Stanley. I studied political science at LUMS in Lahore and at Central European University in Budapest.
